30x40 Oil on Canvas Original Painting by Juanita Ka’ahanui
You want art that does more than decorate—you want a piece that reminds, renews, and roots you in something timeless. Something that brings the gentle power of rain, the breath of ʻāina, and a quiet call to care for what sustains us all. That’s Ua {Rain} Waimānalo.
Born during a New Year's Eve gathering in 2021 on a friend's farm in Waimānalo, this painting captures a contemporary vision of night under steady rainfall. The Koʻolau Mountain range frames the taro fields (loʻi), evoking the life-giving ua (rain) that nourishes the land and its people. Part of my Dream series, it carries the tradition of stewardship—urging respect for the ʻāina across generations, a gentle yet profound reminder to mālama ʻāina: to care for the land so it continues to care for us.Every rich, layered brushstroke holds that mana—the mist rolling in, the downpour soaking the earth, the quiet glow of night—intimate, textured, alive with gratitude for place, community, and heritage. Why Collecting This Painting (and from Me) Is So Powerful
- Original 30x40 oil on canvas — commanding scale with deep, shifting texture and emotional depth that changes with the light
- Oil brushwork with layers full of movement, mood, and cultural resonance—no two views ever feel the same
- Rooted in authentic indigenous perspectives — fusing Native American heritage with the mo'olelo (stories) of Hawai'i, honoring the sacred essence of ua (rain) as blessing and renewal, and the legacy of loʻi kalo (taro fields)
- Created from real moments of celebration, reflection, and reverence for stewardship
- Direct from a living artist — as a Native American woman and mother to Kanaka Maoli children, I infuse every piece with personal aloha, blended lineages, healing energy, and devotion to both ancestries. Collecting from me means supporting an ongoing story of cultural bridging, revival, and empowerment—your piece becomes part of that living legacy
- Unique benefits of my originals — each work carries generational mana from fused heritages, evolves in personal meaning over time, offers daily grounding and subtle inspiration (like quiet art therapy), and serves as both emotional and cultural investment with potential appreciation
- Complimentary worldwide shipping included — no hidden fees; your piece arrives safely, ready to become part of your home’s rhythm
